Hi, I’m Lucie Uhr!

My journey with Frida’s Garden began in early 2024, following my time as a paraeducator with BVSD. I have always loved working with children and felt deeply motivated to create a childcare community that aligns with what I believe is best for their development. My goal was to build a nurturing environment where children are free to explore, move their bodies, and confidently express themselves. 

I also feel very fortunate to have been born and raised in Boulder and to have attended an incredible in-home daycare myself as a child. I have such gentle and positive memories of that time, and those experiences became part of the inspiration for the kind of environment I wanted to create at Frida’s Garden.

This vision came to life when the garden-level apartment of my childhood home, where my father still lives, became available, transforming Frida’s Garden from a dream into a reality. The name honors my beloved, gentle giant of a childhood dog, Frida. Growing up, Frida, my siblings, and I spent our days wandering the backyard and the neighboring bike path. It feels so meaningful to share the magic of that same environment with the children in my care today.

One of the best parts of running Frida’s Garden over the last couple of years has been how naturally the work overlaps with the things I love in my own life. Outside of Frida’s Garden, you’ll often find me biking, hiking with my sweet rescue dog, Cleo, listening to music, or getting lost in a good book.

Luckily, many of those things have found their way into my days at Frida’s Garden, too. I get to explore Boulder by bike (albeit on a giant bike with four little passengers!), spend time outside, listen to lots of music, and, of course, read countless children’s books. It feels pretty special to have created a job that allows me to spend my days doing many of the things that make me happiest.
